For the Colibris citizen’s movement, giving as many people as possible the knowledge to lead a greener way of life is essential for the ecological transition. To achieve this, the association set up the Université des Colibris (Hummingbird University).
Colibris is a French NGO that helps everyone do their bit for society and the environment. Created in 2016, the Université des Colibris aims to give as many people as possible the keys, motivation and support to drive the ecological transition in education, agriculture, the economy and beyond.
Experts share their knowledge and expertise, so everyone can learn and contribute to a fairer, greener society. The training sessions are digital for easy access and provide the opportunity to come together, create connections and develop dynamic communities around major social and environmental topics.
Overseen by Development Manager Aurore du Roy and Learning Manager & Coordinator Yann Le Bueguec, the university offers four kinds of training: short online sessions available at all times, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) that create learning communities over several weeks, on-site training sessions and long-term training for professionals.
Mainly based in France, the audience is growing to include other French-speaking countries in Europe. Colibris is now a community of more than 300,000 citizens and over 140,000 people have benefited from the training. Beyond the virtual classroom, participants continue to join forces and work towards concrete solutions.
