To promote recycling and sustainable habits in Peru and beyond, Recicla, Pe ! has developed an inclusive, circular approach to managing plastic waste.
When Daniela and Sandra Tagle realised that recycling rates in many Peruvian cities were low, the sister duo decided to create Recicla, Pe ! Their objective? Raise awareness and educate the Peruvian population about the importance of recycling.
To do this, the NGO has adopted an inclusive approach to promote the circular economy. They aim to give everyone the tools and information to adopt more sustainable habits and recycle correctly, whether by creating practical guides, running education programmes, setting up dedicated stations to facilitate recycling or designing information campaigns. Recicla, Pe ! is committed to fostering a recycling culture among citizens and in companies including dedicated eco-programmes to become a “sustainable workplace”.
The positive impacts are already being felt. 470+ recycling stations have been set up in Peru, and Colombia where the initiative has been replicated. More 2,500 volunteers have participated, and more than 1 million people have been educated about recycling. This has led to over 1,000 tons of recyclable materials being collected – and counting.
Over the next few years, the NGO has high ambitions looking to reach more countries and develop alliances with the public and private sector.
Would you like to help them increase recycling in Peru, Colombia and beyond?
