Meli was started by a new generation of Amazonian leaders who have witnessed the rapid destruction of their home. Meli is inspired by the Meliponini bees, which are a treasure of Brazil, especially for the diversity of plants they visit and pollinate. With this vision, the association engages communities located in endangered areas such as the Amazonian Arc of Deforestation.

The project aims to involve indigenous and smallholder communities to build an impact network and foster regenerative practices led by them (agroforestry, native beekeeping, bioeconomy, etc.).

Supporting peer-to-peer partnerships

The network builds strong relationships with these communities and connects them in an environment of trust amongst themselves, supporting peer-to-peer partnerships, with possible partners such as donators, B-corporations and experts engaged on regenerative practices, and with the international audience involved on Climate Action around the globe.

The network already engages leaders from 30 communities located in endangered areas of the Brazilian Amazon, mainly Pará and Maranhão states. In the next few years, Meli wants to engage +200 communities in the impact network and develop projects with each one of them.
