Reducing CO2 emissions and attenuating climate change at an individual and collective level requires us to understand the challenges and develop solutions. Charles-Hugo Maziade, Carbone Scol’ERE Educator and Director, and his team are convinced that this begins by raising awareness from a very early age.

Their educational programme focuses on children as communication channels and actors for change within the family. This programme is based on a solid foundation supported by research: knowledge and understanding, perceptions and family conditions, connections between the individual and the collective, eco-anxiety and disengagement, reminders of commitments, involvement from a young age and long-term support through the stages of behavioural change.

Raising to the challenge of reducing CO2 emissions

Carbone Scol’ERE encourages 9-12 year olds to Raise to the Challenge with their school and family, and more widely, citizens to get involved and discover greener habits and behaviours. Through the Carbone Scol’ERE website, you can offset unavoidable emissions by contributing to programme’s expansion across primary schools in Quebec.

Created in 2010 in Quebec and drawing on the talents of the multidisciplinary Coop FA (Coopérative Forêt d’Arden) team, the programme has already reached more than 18,000 children. The Fédération Léo Lagrange started replicating the programme in France in 2020.
